Just curious as to the general opinion of this guy. Is he even relevent to the metal world anymore? I liked Anti-crist Superstar back when it came out and some earlier stuff but havent been impressed with anything since. New CD coming out which will probably suck balls but maybe I'll be surprised.

He is one of metals greatest frontmen ever.

Antichrist, Portrait and Smells Like Children are great. the rest is garbage.

I liked everything up to and including Mechanical Animals. I don't know how relevant they've ever really been to the metal world, but they made good records. Their last few albums have been horrible though, and Manson's talkshow persona has gotten more and more annoying.

I used to have a few of his tapes a few years ago, I listened to them sometimes, but I wouldn't say I was ever a real fan.
As far as his relevance to metal - I could see how a person into metal might appreciate his stuff, but I'd say he's more relevant to the shock-rock/industrial crowd than metal.

Seen'em on the "Antichrist" and "Mechanical Animals" tours..both were
good shows. I lost the buzz for the guy through the years...maybe he'll
pull a (dead) rabbit out of a hat and have another decent Cd...maybe not.

I've always enjoyed Manson. The only album I didn't like was Golden Age of Grotesque, just didn't set well with me. Other than that I've always enjoyed his work.

the man puts on one hell of a show back when he first got started when i saw'em in pittsburgh the show was almost comical and not very shocking at all. it was like seeing the end of the Doors.

His book was an entertaining read. I've never liked his music. There were quite a few spooky kids in my circle of friends. I couldn't get into it.

I read that book, couldn't put it down. He's actually really funny.

i liked his book too, the part where he was talking about being on tour with trent and going through the mcdonalds drive thru was great

Smart guy, funny book, interesting earlier music that gave some new life to industrial music. He puts on great shows and frankly, metal in general could learn from that to at times go for making shows with a bang.
Bits of his last album that I heard sounded like he was going back toward his more harder, pounding, industrial sound. So, who knows what this new album will sound like.
I can honestly say, the biggest irony about him to me personally was that when he was seen as the biggest and scariest thing in metal when I was in Jr High and High School, I wasn't a huge fan or dressed the part like a bunch of other kids around me, yet I was the only one that really GOT what he was talking about while everyone else saw only the surface and was facinated by that alone.
