in my on-going WAR ON SPAM. I'm doing away with spam filters for the most part. that is to say, I'm doing things a different way.

I'm currently working on it, but when someone posts anonymously for the first time from a computer, they will will see something like this

re-type this: values are 0-9 or A-F

if they incorrectly type it in, they will hit the old spam filters. if they correctly fill it out, a cookie will be stored on their computer and they shouldn't have to do that again until they delete their cookies. I'm hoping this will thwart spambots for now... I'm trying to get it up before my radio show.

it's a way to make sure a computer is "trusted" while you are posting. then I won't block anonymous posts from that computer.

Will this also cut down on other anonymous posts?

xax, yes, that is correct, but in this case, you shouldn't only have to type the code in once as long as you doing clear your cookies.

I think it's a good idea as long as you don't start doing what google, yahoo, aim, ect does by giving you those 5 digit codes, but the letters and numbers are all contorted and not legible.

there already is something like that on normal rttp, I guess I just didn't switch it to text.rttp yet.

it shouldn't be hard for you to add something to the text version though. the addition of the 'random number' to anon posting is one of the best spam deterrents out there, shit, just about everyone uses it now
