Ok so i got a DVR for Xmas and want to back up some of my old movies, some are one's that I have recorded (home movies, etc). When I try this though my DVR tells me the info is copywritten and it won't copy it. Is there some sort of adapter/filter I can use that will allow me to record them?
are the movies you're backing up VHS tapes? If so, the VCR you're using might have copy protection built in. You'll probably have better luck using an old VCR that doesnt have copy protection.

hmm that could be it too, I am trying to copy them from a new VHS/DVD player which I also just got. Damn...

Ok, the VCR/DVD Combo does have the copyright protection in the machine itself. Does anyone know how to block it or take it out?
