New site? Maybe some day.

So, with only a week or so left of the year, what were your favorite albums and concerts
My favorite Album of the year is a tie between Moonspell's "Memento Mori" and Bal-Sagoth's "Cthonic chronicles" Amon Amarth's "with oden on our side" is up there too.
for concerts, definatly Blind Guardian. |
|
Best Shows: Emperor, Tool, AiC, Dweezil Zappa |
|
that'd be cool if it was 2007. |
|
ha i didnt even notice that.
207-807-0009 |
|
for albums, some of my favs are Arsis "United in Regret", Amorphis "Eclipse," Mastodon "Blood Mountain," Enslaved "Ruun", Agalloch "Ashes against the Grain," and Katatonia "Great Cold distance"
concert was either Finntroll and Sodom in Poughkeepsie NY, or Opeth and Dark Tranquillity in Hartford |
|
hahah ooppppppppppssss 2006 is what I meant though |
|
Fintroll/Sodom in NY
Morbid Angel @ Palladium
Katatonia @ Marks
Destruction @ The Middle East
Carnivore in CT
My favorite album is probably I-Between Two Worlds. New Katatonia ruled too. I spent 2006 reverting back to the 80s so I have no idea what happened. |
|
I wish I made it to finntroll in New York, but I am against all travel south of Massachusetts |
|
Normally I avoid it, but that show was not to be missed. |
|
Ewigkeit - Conspiritus (James Fogarty AKA Jaldaboath of Meads of Asphodel) |
|
I didn't buy a lot of new records this year, so personally I have to toss it up between Agalloch and Drudkh's Blood In Our Wells. As for concerts, I went to Wacken this year, so I can't really give a fair answer. Morbid Angel, BG, Hirax, and Suffocation-Hypocrisy-Decapitated are all up there among normal shows though. |

man this is way too hard.
I do remember liking:
American Heritage - Millarian
and
Saviors - Crucifire
My favorite shows were:
Mouth of the Architect, Intronaut, and others @ O'Brien's
Contamination Tour @ O'Brien's
Doomriders, Saviours, Young Widows, and others @ Great Scott
High on Fire @ The Middle East
Melvins @ Axis
I'm probably forgetting a few, but those all stood out.

Disfear, Misery Index, Phobia, 9 Shocks Terror, Strong Intention, I Destroyer at Giza 5/14
Unholy Grave, Yacopsae, Sanity's Dawn, Magrudergrind, I Destroyer, Throwing Shrapnel at Redrum 6/1
Bathtub Shitter, Abhorred, Id, Suffering Bastard at 39 Troy 11/24
Converge, Some Girls, Colin of Arabia, Modern Life is War at the El 'n' Gee 11/21
Dropdead, Direct Control, Strung Up, Third Death at AS220 9/6
Providence Declares War at AS220 10/6-7
I don't know what came out this year that I was impressed with and bought for the most part. The new Third Death and Scapegoat 7"s were definitely noteworthy. |
|
My favorite show this year would have to be Morbid Angel/Krisiun. Celtic Frost was a good show too.
As far as CD's go - I really have no intrest in new bands or albums. When I want to hear something new, I look to the past. This year I discovered the greatness of Pentagram and old Mercyful Fate - something I should have done back when I was 16 and just starting to get into metal. |
|
to tell you the truth i really didn't buy that many cds this year [that are new 2006 releases] but i really enjoyed misery index
my favorite show probably hmmmm seeing converge at the sounds of the underground cause i didn't see them at the lido... |
|
I hardly went to any shows this year. When I was 21 I would go to like 2 shows a week. I'm fucking ancient now and don't care that much anymore. But from what I did make it out to:
Anal Cunt/Hirax in Brooklyn
um.....Shit, the only other show I can even remember going to was Destruction at the Middle East. I know I saw a few others but I can't think of them right now.....Oh yeah, Watchmaker in Lowell was pretty good.
The only 2006 release I got was the Pentagram demos CD Vol. 2.

Mouth of the Architect's The Ties That Blind is my top pick of 2006.
Biggest letdown goes to ISIS - In the Absence of Truth
Best show I attended this year was Megadeth. So many classics, all played flawlessly. |
|
Hmmm, for concerts definitely Maiden in October, with Blind Guardian and Coheed up there too. Agalloch gets album of the year for me, with The Prize Fighter Inferno debut and the new Maiden getting honorable mentions. |
