I've had a tarantula for about 10 years now. she stays in a cage upstairs on the balcony ledge and I feed her every few months. Well, carina's been worried about them knocking the spider down. I haven't been worried about it cause the cage has been there for 2 1/2 years...
Well, I can in the door from my radio show and I had a crashing noise.
one of the cats was sitting on it and jumped off startled when I came in and knocked the cage to the ground.
it woke carina up and she yelled "the spider, where is the spider!"
I got up stairs and saw her climbing towards the edge of the flipped over tank. her abdomen is crushed and split open. as she walked around (one or two of her legs are working) she leaves a moist trailed of clear blood. it's sad for me cause I've had her for so long. I bungied up the cage and put it inside a huge box, poked some holes in the box, put a glass of water with a moist paper towel hanging out of it to wick the water and closed the box up. I know that she can't survive the injuries, but I figure that leaving her in a warm dark place with moisture is best thing I can do. Maybe there will be some sort of xmas miracle or kwansa something that will save her, but she was already really old for a spider.
*sigh*

chilean rose tartantula.
I just read they can live 15-20 years.

That's awful.

She'll always have Peter Brady.

all cats should die.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Dec 5,2006 7:49am

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Dec 5,2006 9:52am
spiders are scary

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 5,2006 9:54am
I looked at her and she basically bled out.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Dec 5,2006 9:57am
i don't like spiders, but that's sad. i'm trying to imagine all the memories you had with her and i see the two of you playing frisbee in the park, the spider being walked down the street on a leash, and the two of you snuggling up on the couch to watch a movie.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Dec 5,2006 10:06am
all the great memories of you looking at the spider sit there in a cage, and do nothing but wish it could eat you.

i hate spiders.

It sounds barbaric, but I might have put the thing out of its misery.......its suffering.
I know if I had a seeping gut wound that wasnt going to heal, I d want to be flushed down the toilet.

I thought about that as I went to bed. I'm pretty sure she was dead before I finished putting her in a box.

DEATH 2 THE CATS

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 5,2006 11:42am
you mean Katz, don't you.

toggletoggle post by chris_from_shit_fuck  at Dec 5,2006 11:51am
As much as Spiders fucking terrify me, that's still really shitty to actually watch one of your pets die. Sorry to hear that Rev.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Dec 5,2006 12:35pm
you're not the first person i've known that grew attached to a spider. i have a friend that before he moved, owned many many spiders, including a goliath bird eater. when one died he was very distraught.

toggletoggle post by hungtableed at Dec 5,2006 12:51pm
damn, 10 yr old spider? I never knew they lived that long. It's definitely sad when your pet is on the outs no matter what kind of animal it is.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Dec 5,2006 1:10pm
To show the spider your respect in its dying throes, perhaps you should eat it. And please post pictures of this act.
Sorry to hear about your spider though. Animals that eat other animals = great.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Dec 5,2006 1:34pm
Now go out and replace it with a goliath bird eater so it can bite the damn cats and make them not come back!

toggletoggle post by elders of zion nli at Dec 5,2006 2:02pm
Sucks about the poor spider. If it was Jewish, remember to have your rebbe collect the blood, as the blood of any Jew is the flesh of G-d.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Dec 5,2006 2:46pm
Sorry to hear about the pet. :(

And I just googled goliath bird eater... jesus!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 5,2006 2:49pm

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Dec 5,2006 2:57pm
Look at the bright side, there are a lot of happy little crickets out there.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Dec 5,2006 4:27pm

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Dec 5,2006 5:45pm

toggletoggle post by infoterror  at Dec 5,2006 7:24pm
Nationalism would separate the spiders and the cats.

Saw this pretty cool National Geographic video on the Goliath Bird Eater. Even though Spiders scare the shit out of me, that video is pretty damned cool.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Dec 5,2006 11:54pm
cats > spiders

toggletoggle post by pam   at Dec 5,2006 11:54pm
oh, uh...sorry about your spider, too. :(

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Dec 6,2006 8:46am
It's fucking stupid that youtube has become so popular. It has the shitiest flash video player I've ever seen.
