Not that what anybody says is going to matter any but i'm just looking to see what other people think.

Basically our bassist has gotten real shady lately. He's been saying that he wants to play guitar even though we've told him over and over again that we don't want 2 guitars. Despite this he still shows up at practice with a guitar. *sigh* So whatever, we let him play guitar just to see and of course it sounds horrible. We tell him this but he insists it sounds great. So at our next practice he tells us he is done with our shit but for some reason still hangs out and then at the end of practice pulls a fliperoo saying he doesnt want to quit and he loves the band.

So there's that on top of how he acts at shows. Pretty much he's just annoying and hard to talk to. He tries to be as offensive as possible because he thinks it's cool. Yeah i know, death metal, gotta be offensive blah blah blah but there's still a line. He crosses wayyyyy over it sometimes.

Oh yeah....he doesn't even have his own bass equipment, he just borrows other peoples. Even though he's "getting it next week" which hes been saying for a couple months now.

Hahah after typing all this out i just realized how obvious this decision is.

Sounds like you're answering your own question there

If I were your Bass player, and I was reading this, I would kick you in the face, and then quit.

there's always bands looking for bass players.

Agreed, you need to sit down with the kid and let him know how you feel about the whole thing. Other wise the way things are going he's going to try and run the whole band and basically get the "L.S.S. (Lead Singer Syndrome)". Don't ask a message board if you should kick a member of your band out, talk to him first before anything. Anyone who's in a band and doesn't have their own equipment shouldn't even be in a band to begin with unless the band says upfront that they have certain rigs/instruments they need to play.

if you're going to replace him with some hot broad who plays bass naked at shows, then yes, you should kick out your bassist.
