thx succubus for fixin the link...I cant edit cuz im not logged in.
Im gettin some parts from newegg, and some from showtime computers in Hudson NH, where me and my friends have bought comp parts for years, so we get a 7% discount now, and its constantly getting higher with the more we buy.
I think it IS just barely over a gerand with shipping and the dual core proc...but still, good deal.
I cant wait for FEAR and CODII
|
|
ohh damn, my bad.....add an extra $230 for 2 more gigs of Ram....4GB of ddr400!!

What are the speed and timings on that RAM? |
|
Don't you need DDR2 for that system?
is your motherboard AGP 8x or PCI Express 16x? |
|
Nope. DDR2 is coming with the new SocketAM2 stuff. The dual core FX60 that was just released was the last new Athlon64 to be released for socket939 |
|
Oh, and that board is PCIe. AGP is pretty much a dead technology now. They don't even make AGP versions of the geforce 7xxx. |

Unless you are putting Arch Linux / FreeBSD or OpenBSD on that thing.. Buy a MAC... you will be happy. Windows will never use the potential that machine has so kinda a waste for a 64 bit system if you ask me.
my 2 cents...

macs have their advantages, but as far as gaming goes, they're bad... you wait too long for games to finally come out, then when they do, they're outdated.
on top of that, I don't like the way a mac games at all, they feel "floaty" and not responsive enough.
but, as far as video editing and audio recording, Macs are sweet machines.
just my two cents.
Another thing, sure the current incarnation of Winblows has no true 64bit support, the next version of windows is geared for 64bit systems.
Now, if windows games and applications would just run on a Linux Box... the world would be wonderful |
|
Yeah I'm sure he's going to buy a mac and throw away all the games and software he has. 64bit has been out for over 2 years. Nobody using a pc at home really cares about utilizing it. |
