any on play any or have any favorites?

my friends were telling me about apples to apples and i bought it so aaron and i can play on christmas when we're at his dad's (even though he hates board games)
anyone know/play it?

the last game aaron and i played was the newlywed game and we kicked some major ass, despite some ass answers on both our parts!

what's balderdash?

toggletoggle post by niccolai nli at Dec 21,2005 11:27am
Well, it's like ordinary coke but you snort it with a solvent.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Dec 21,2005 11:28am
my nose is too sensitive for snorting ANYTHING

Balderdash is pretty much "the dictionary game". Somebody reads a strange word that nobody's ever heard of, he writes down the real definition while everyone else writes down fakes. They pass them all in and they are read at random anonymously. All the players must vote for the definition they think is the correct one and points are distributed based on if you guess the right definition and how many people guess yours etc.

My sister bought me a game last year called SCENE IT, it is a board and DVD game, it's basically just movie trivia.

Mastermind, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit and Scattergories are my faves.

i've played Apples to Apples...it's alright, kinda fun for a while.
i got some Rock n' Roll trivia game a few weeks ago, i forget who makes it. it's all questions from the 50s, 60s and 70s...it's pretty tough, especially for someone my age

ditto.
I think UNO is ok. I liked magic the gathering like 11-12 years ago. and risk is ok.

I tend to hate those kind of mass market board games with all the cheesy pieces and stuff. The only game I like of that sort is monopoly. It's rare that I play it, but it's a really fun game.

I like classic board games, like cribbage, chess, go, etc...

Uno. I agree with whoever said uno. Don't really consider it a board game though, more like a card game. Really fun though, me and my sister used to play it all the time.
