Dan our current bassist is going to continue playing with us until we find a replacement (recording, current shows). He's in school and doesn't think he will be able to continue with us much longer. Shawn our 2nd guitarist (founding member of the band) is being forced to leave us due to wrist injury that doesn't look like will get better anytime soon. I love those dude's so it's very hard for me to do this, but we must move forward.

Just a few requirements we ask:
-must own equipment, good enough for live shows. no combo amps.
-a positive/serious attitude (we're all a bunch of goofballs, but we're serious when we have to be)
-flexible schedule (lots of shows, weeknights, weekends) and ability to tour if we get a label deal worked out.

-guitar: rhythm is the most important aspect, sure you can solo like yngwie (which is a bonus) but it doesn't really mean much to us if you can't play anything else.
-bass: we'd prefer someone who doesn't play with a pick, but it's not a must if are really proficient with one.

We currently practice in North Woodstock, NH every sunday...we have a member who drives from Berwick, ME and Somerville, MA. So car pooling from these locations is a possibility. We will be relocating in southern NH area sometime this fall so the travel will only be temporary.

you can check out a newly recorded track that's unmastered @
http://www.myspace.com/porphyria

please contact us if you are interested and we will setup a tryout ASAP:

or call tom @ 603.781.0993

thanks.

Shit man, that sucks. I hope you guys find some dudes to keep you going.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at May 12,2005 11:44am
Shit shawn!!
Sucks about Dan, but it really sucks about Shawn, seeing how he has no control over it. I really hope you get better, bro.
MUCH LUCK!!

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at May 12,2005 1:06pm
Yeah man, best of luck finding people to fill those shoes, both of them are great musicians, and outstanding players.

Tom, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you guys, and I'll let you know if I find anyone.

Shawn, I hope you get better man!

KEEP THIS AT THE TOP, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!

If I lived closer and still had a seven string guitar.....

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 12,2005 2:18pm edited May 12,2005 2:18pm
7-string is not neccessary. I play 6.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis nli at May 12,2005 2:20pm
yea i know but i prefer using 7 string in that case, if i ever had to id tune a 6 string down that low, but considering how cheap the 7 string guitars can be these days Id probably go back down that route.

Porphyria must carry on!

I'd rather not have to bump this and have the lineup stay the same...

toggletoggle post by i_am_not_logged_in at May 15,2005 11:52am
No combo amps? That eliminates me I guess. And that distance is a bit much.

toggletoggle post by dread_104  at May 15,2005 3:46pm

What's wrong with combo amps? I understand that a Fender 50 watt combo that cost $129 at GitCenter or something is out of the question, but there are plenty of LOUD and very nice higher-end combo amps out there. Plus they're easier to carry.

um, metal band + loud = no combo amps. Sure, there are some that are loud, but they don't move as much air as a 4x12 cab. I haven't put this much money into my equipment for some dood with a crate 2x12 combo to be playing shows with us. If the person fit well enough, I would consider letting them use one of my cabs and backup head. Otherwise seeing one dude with a combo amp on stage just doesn't seem right to me especially since most of the shows we play our guitars are NOT miced.

oh youre talking about GUITAR amps. I thought you were talking about bass. There are plenty of bass combos (4x10, 1x15, even 2x10) that are plenty loud for a metal band, just as loud as their head-cab-separate counterparts.

hehe misunderstood ya

My hartke combo sucked up 350 watts and competes with Marks blue voodoo and Evan's Peavey all the way up on half the volume, biatch.

I lived in woodstock nh for 6 years, then I moved to concord.
I can play rythm, and have for 13down,bent-hogan(few weeks),mindset-x. been playing for 15 years, I'm 32 and looking for something i can dedicate myself to.
I'll be giving a call. my email is mikedown@gmail.com

Not the best of amps.. but it's loud.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 16,2005 9:09am

we're trying another guy this weekend from portsmouth, nh.

it looks like we have 2 other possible tryouts.

ANY BASS PLAYERS AND GUITARISTS WANTING TO TRY OUT PLEASE CONTACT ME...

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 19,2005 9:50am
tried out one bass player and one guitarist so far.... NO LUCK yet.

we've got another guitar player coming up sunday, and another one next weekend. Anyone else get ahold of us please. We may be close to getting label interest and need to get our shit together so we don't look like a bunch of unprofessional bastards before we're even signed. haha.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at May 19,2005 9:57am
Oh come on, we're unprofessional and look where it's gotten us. Oh yeah, that's right, nowhere! hahaha

You'll find someone -- hey talk to Todd about Erik Jakes. He's a good bass player, but I'm not sure about his level of commitment.
