and I like it a lot...never owned one, I would probably be a better player today if I had started off on one. Time to take a step back and learn, this thing will last me forever. I never wanted an acoustic guitar until I saw this one at the shop. gorgeous!

I have a fender I don't play that much, but it's an awesome acoustic/electric that once in awhile I break out.

toggletoggle post by destroyyoualot  at May 3,2005 9:25am
Damn, that thing's a looker. If it sounds as nice as it plays, you're psyched.

My girl's dad has a top-of-the-line Ovation acoustic/electric that's fucking amazing to play, I write more shit sitting over there waiting for laundry than I ever do at home. He's also got a Roger McGuin model twelve-string Rick that he's determined to be buried with, but I'm gonna re-write his will when he's not looking.

toggletoggle post by wakeoftears  at May 3,2005 2:04pm
I have an old Yamaha acoustic guitar, and a newer Galveston acoust/electric bass. I love the bass its not top of the line by any stretch, but it sounds good, and doesnt wake up my family at night.

yeah man, It's probably the nicest acoustic guitar I've seen that has the classic look but isn't plain. It sounds real full too, even plugged in.

toggletoggle post by Christraper at May 3,2005 3:16pm
nice guitar dude. good to hear you bought an acoustic, it really does improve your playing.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis nli at May 3,2005 3:51pm
Hmmm how did i know the 1st thing i was gonna see when i opened up this thread was a bunch of pics...........

I wish i got one a while ago also, it pisses me off how i never learned to play guitar with my fingers instead of just a pick. I feel soo limited damn it.

toggletoggle post by todayistheday at May 3,2005 4:09pm

Real country.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 4,2005 11:45am
hey guys, it has only one strap button, on the bottom, so I'm assuming they would prefer you to have a strap with the string on the end to tie off above the nut... the shop says they could install a button elsewhere if I prefer that. What do you think feels better with an acoustic standing up (not that I would ever really play it standing up)?

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at May 4,2005 11:50am
depends on how u want it to feel. drawbacks of the string setup above the nut is, sometimes it can hinder your left hand with some chords, depending on string length.
prolly be wise to have the button installed on the back of the heel.

toggletoggle post by timma nli at May 4,2005 12:54pm
those "tie off" straps are kinda tough. like he said, it can hinder your left hand a little bit, and the guitar just doesn't hang the same way as it does with a button. if you don't mind modifying the stock body to get a button installed (some people are anal like that) then i'd say do it.

and that quilt top makes me feel good in places i can't mention.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 4,2005 8:29pm
okay, I'll have to experiment, I am a bit nervous about someone drilling a hole into my new guitar. ack.

toggletoggle post by Hooker  at May 4,2005 8:33pm
Just get a strap that you can tie between the nut and the closest set of tuning pegs. it'll be fine.

wait... who the fuck plays acoustics standing up? are you a nun?

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at May 4,2005 8:45pm
hhahahaa
ya man, either way, whatever, if you get a button, itll only be a tiny 1/3'' deep hole.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at May 4,2005 8:46pm
P.s. I know you just want a strap so you can play in front of the mirror and do 'the look around' like Melissa Etheridge!!!

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 4,2005 9:19pm
ahahahahahahaha.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Nov 23,2005 11:57am
the action on this for some reason got really high, I'm not sure if the neck bowed or what? anyone have any ideas as to why the action would be ridiculously higher than it was originally?

RustedAngel said:

don't bet on it, i started off acoustic.

as for the action, did you change the strings at all? if you didn't put a heavier gauge string on it, or tune up some crazy high tuning, my other guess would be that the cold got to it somehow...was it left anywhere cold between the time you bought it and now?

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Nov 24,2005 11:12am
nope, it's in my basement but it's never THAT cold, It's been in the case too. I'm going to take it into the shop and see if there's anything they can do.

toggletoggle post by diamond nli at Nov 24,2005 2:30pm
hopefully the truss rod has some movement in it. no idea why it would have happened in the first place though. good luck.

toggletoggle post by diamond nli at Nov 24,2005 2:32pm
after looking at the pics again, it doesn't look like it has a truss rod...that would be unfortunate.

toggletoggle post by Kinslayer at Nov 24,2005 3:13pm
You should have gone the extra mile and purchased a Taylor or Martin. I could have gotten you a killer deal from my work.

toggletoggle post by the rooster at Nov 24,2005 10:43pm
i own a washburn acoustic. i love it. i play it a ton. my girl has a taylor, which is pretty much the rolls royce of hand-made acoustics... it plays smoother and easier than any electric i've ever touched. and it's mahogany so the tone is dank.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Nov 28,2005 1:00pm
UPDATE--

I brought it in to the local shop for a quick truss rod adjusting and to double check if the neck was bent , and it didn't respond to any amount of turning. So I just got a call today from the guitar tech at the shop and that it's going to be sent to Ibanez under warranty luckily since I got it new in May. If they can't fix it I'll just get a new one, I would imagine they'll just send me a new one. I'll report back in a couple of weeks.

should have bought the $30 I got.
