So, does anyone know? I'm looking to get that sick bass sound Mortician uses. I think it's some green pedal, but I don't know. Any ideas?

I dont know but the RAT pedal is pretty fuckin nasty. Thats all ive used for over 10 years. And they never break, built like a tank.

they use all line-6 on the bass recording, not sure what they use live.

take any distortion pedal, turn everything all the way up, making it sound like absolute shit, and you have mortician's bass.

the bass setting is called mustache rider 5000 its made by cumdust or maybe rimjob inc. not sure though.

the new ones are shit though...see if you can get one of the older ones, they are made of thick fucking steel. RATs get better with age....they break in.

I like anything with a blend knob, I try to get a nice Cnic/Atheist syle midend tone, with just a hint of growly distortion that only comes through when the bass is solo. Ibanez makes a decent one, and I think the Boss one's ok, I've used that. Of course, when you're talking about distorted bass - Danny Lilker swears by the SansAmp GT2 - the guitar pedal, not the Bass Driver.

Never used the bass rat, but Ill agree with nickcigs, that the newer rats arent as good as the old ones.
Im sure, its the same as old thing as any 'buff' or fan of some product would attest to. Old Gibson paf afficianado's said when they removed the gold sticker from the bottom of the pickup, they lost their 'tone' and demanded only P.A.F. 's and not the newer models.
I saw a proco BRAT and it was like bright pink and I thought, hmm Rat has gotten gay.
