I finally picked up Century Child and I must admit.....this album is one of my top 10 favorite albums of all fucking time....

I popped it in my CD player and.....

BAM!!!!!!! (that fat fuck Emeril said it best)

INSTANT CLASSIC!!!!!!

Their older albums were good.....but this is AMAZING.

My jaw has dropped, my life has changed.

My outlook on metal has changed 100%.

Period.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Apr 26,2005 9:43pm
Sounds like Rammstein and evanescence had a crack baby.
only crappier.
Cant say I like it so much.
I'd rather listen to Rammstein and not understand the gay lyrics.

Hoser, I would never expect you to like Nightwish at all! Yeah I think they're great. Century Child is awesome, but my favorite is Once. If you don't have Once, I strongly strongly recommend it.

Pk, I gotta disagree. I can see where you get the Rammstein, cause the guitar riffs are very chuggy sometimes, but aside from that, they aren't like Rammstein at all, and the only similarity they have with Evanescence is that there is that both groups have a female vocalist. Their voices sound nothing alike, and the music is very very different. Of course, all power to you though if you don't like them: Nightwish is definitely one of bands where I can easily see why someone wouldn't like them. I just think you could have chosen better examples of bands to compare them to

When people hear music that they really like for the first time, sometimes it can have an effect that they later realize was little over dramatized. The first time I listened to Green Carnation - Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness, I remember saying something to my friend who told me about it along the lines of "man, that was amazing, i feel like if i died right now it wouldn't matter, my life is fulfilled from hearing that", hahaha. Of course, that was just me being delerious from the high that you get when you first hear music that really clicks with you.

toggletoggle post by hoser at Apr 26,2005 11:06pm
No, I love Powerkok like a brother....but I gotta disagree with him. He loves all metal....as long as It's sick. I, however favor more dramatic and operatic Metal bands. Hence my love for Opeth and the likes, as I'm sure he'll agree. I really fell in love with this album completely. The fucking Phantom of the Opera is downright amazing. I just happen to enjoy that type of metal a bit more than PK does. He's the eviler of the Hand Choke Neck guitar twins. If it were up to him, my fingers would bleed all over my guitar frets and strings like they did last night at practice EVERY NIGHT......

Nightwish rules......I am truly amazed and will follow Retzams advice and immediately run out and buy "Once."

I prefer Wishmaster, for some reason out of all of the Nightwish CDs the music is the best on that one..I like them but they're not completely incredible!

hey, as long as it makes U guys happy, thats what its all about, pals.
Hose, I agree 110% ..... but those chunks of flesh on your 3rd 4th and 5th frets, looked quite badass, you must admit.

You all need to get addicted to PAN-THY-MONIUM, EDGE OF SANITY and SEPTIC FLESH.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Apr 27,2005 8:16am
Century Child was great, but I still like Wishmaster the best out of all of them. I think I have everything they've ever released, including all the rare bootleg shit. Great band to become addicted to!

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Apr 27,2005 8:25am
Ya, it's the whole Metal / Opera edge to them that I love. It's so dramatic. And man has that babe got a set of pipes or what?!!? I find their music a LOT of fun to listen to and that's more than I can say for a lot of bands lately. It's just so different and it really threw me for a cool whirl.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Apr 27,2005 11:55am
well, hoser, you know that I still have respect for you! Nightwish has been on my top 10 list since Angels Fall First was released here in the states.

the only song that I don't particularly care for is "Wish I had an Angel" and it's not that I hate the song, it's more to the point that it's too different from their other stuff.

Thanks... Kinda hard to get a feel for their compositional skills with sample mp3s. These don't move me much though anyway... Certainly a good voice on the singer.

Anyone into THERION's Theli? I really can't get into much operatic sounding Metal, but that is a really well written album.

Therion is awsome, I'm gonna go to their show in September! I can't wait for that!

I haven't heard Therion yet...but if it's anything like Nightwish at all, I assure you that I'll give 'em a listen. I gotta say that this is the thickest, fullest sounding recording that I own. They cover every musical aspect of composition and keep the songs catchy as hell. This great shit. They have officially made my Top 10 favorite bands of all time list......right up there with Opeth and Type O Negative.

Heh, I just listened to that to fall asleep last night. I like "Mother Earth" better, though.

As for Nightwish, my favorite album is "Angels Fall First." I can't say that anything on "Once" grabbed my attention. It seems like they got progressively more generic with each album. But don't get me wrong, I fucking love this band.
