id be happy if i got a thousand dollar preamp too but what mics did you use on that sample and what was the placement of them?
Im glad you asked josh (i remember your into recording also)
The drums are in a very small room.
*2 Octavia mk-012's spaced left and right ( above hi hat and ride) runing into the trident s20 preamp.
*1 sm-57 , 2" off snare rim , running into a focusrite twintrak pre.
*2 kick drums via ddrum redshot triggers/alesis DM5 into focusrite twintrak pre
Thats it, 3 mics and kick triggers. Pretty simple, and a little compression post recording on the mix. I cant wait to try the trident out on snare and guitar tomorrow.
I have never liked the sound of "bottom side snare " sound (on either of my 2 13." snares) Have you ever put one of those mk-012 1" off to the side of the snare sound hole? I like that combo better, for my tastes.
i got one of these today. it is only single channel which is kinda lame. it also has no pad. which i am not used to. i dont get to record with it until tuesday. cant wait to hear it.
no that is the brick. the ditto with a preamp basicly.
i mostly use the pad so i can push more signal thru the tube before distortion but from what i can understand this thing wont distort. thats what 3 tubes does. and it is a sweet little DI box too.
i was looking at the new "robbie" the micpre from blue and it has one knob. thats it. and i thought this thing was simple. every reveiw i read about the brick was a good one. time will tell on tuesday.
