From what I understand if you homebrew it you can do so in such a way to minimize the alcohol content and maximize the thujone content so you can actually trip. Most commercially brewed stuff has too high alcohol to thujone ratio so you just wind up getting drunk before you trip. I could be wrong. I have not drank enough of it/done enough reading ont he subject.
