[QUOTE="josh_hates_you:1236310"]that's a pretty ridiculous kick drum sound if it not triggered. rueben and I did and A/B comparisson with an sm57 on snare through different pre amps and found that the brick kicked the shit out of the other pres. not even close. here's why: an sm 57 is a low inpedance mic. it wants 300 ohms. most mixing boards like my mackie and interfaces like my presonus have impedence of 1200-2000 ohms. d112 wants 1200 ohms and most LDC mic's require 2000-5000. Try using the 57 with a preamp with a lower impedance because the capsule on your sm57 is not moving properly with too much resistence. this would explain why the kick sounds awesome and the snare does not using the same preamp. read this or google "sm 57 gizmo" and make one. it's way cheaper than buying a new preamp.[url]http://www.recordingmag.com/resources/resourceDetail/330.html[/url][/QUOTE]
