I've had a tarantula for about 10 years now. she stays in a cage upstairs on the balcony ledge and I feed her every few months. Well, carina's been worried about them knocking the spider down. I haven't been worried about it cause the cage has been there for 2 1/2 years... Well, I can in the door from my radio show and I had a crashing noise. one of the cats was sitting on it and jumped off startled when I came in and knocked the cage to the ground. it woke carina up and she yelled "the spider, where is the spider!" I got up stairs and saw her climbing towards the edge of the flipped over tank. her abdomen is crushed and split open. as she walked around (one or two of her legs are working) she leaves a moist trailed of clear blood. it's sad for me cause I've had her for so long. I bungied up the cage and put it inside a huge box, poked some holes in the box, put a glass of water with a moist paper towel hanging out of it to wick the water and closed the box up. I know that she can't survive the injuries, but I figure that leaving her in a warm dark place with moisture is best thing I can do. Maybe there will be some sort of xmas miracle or kwansa something that will save her, but she was already really old for a spider. *sigh*
