I think the Abu Ghraib thing was blown up so much because when people, normal everyday people, think of our military, they think of them as noble people, and what those soldiers did was less than noble, and the media loves a SCANDAL. There's no scandal in those barbaric fucks acting the way they do...it's expected. I'm not sure the punishment should have been so severe for those soldiers, but I do think they should have been punished.

I read every single piece of legal document associated with Abu Ghraib for a huge paper I wrote this past semester...that whole situation was just fucked up. Seriously, that place was a goddamn disaster. I do wish that people could empathize with more perspectives though. To their culture, those people aren't barbaric. It's just a matter of what we value being a lot different from what they value. I don't know, I'm not really in the mood for a rant on my personal feelings on violence so I'm just going to quit while this post basically says nothing.
