Thanks to their MySpace profile, members of S*** F*** (we've used asterisks to cover the shock-value name), a 2-year-old Wayland-based punk and metal band, have been contacted by local labels, said their bassist, 20-year-old Chris Nichols. When not playing with the band, Nichols attends Massachusetts Bay Community College.

They will soon collaborate with other Massachusetts bands such as Walpole's Whoremastery and Chelmsford's Exploding Christ on a CD.

"It opens a whole gateway, (you know) bands you never knew existed," said Nichols.

He checks S*** F***'s profile hourly to see how many more people have listened to one of the four songs they have posted and to check the comments they receive. People from as far as Germany have sent praise to Nichols and his band mates.

"The biggest thing is it boosts your confidence," said Nichols.

Since starting the site in February, S*** F***'s songs have been played 2,263 times.

Yeah, that kinda made me happy to read that. PS we need shows, haha.
